#303 BYU Cougars +2
2-Units (7:00 P.M. CST) (Versus)
Everyone seems to be overlooking a very obvious factor in this match up between BYU and TCU in a nationally televised game on the Versus Network. What is that factor you ask? BYU has a very good defense! Yes BYU! What I have heard all week is that TCU has the number one ranked total defense, allowing 207 yards a game. Everyone seems to be overlooking a BYU defense that is ranked 2nd nationally in points allowed(10.2), trailing only USC. Even more impressive is the fact that BYU has allowed a total of 17 points over its last 4 games, pitching shut outs in two of them. The BYU offense is putting up 450 yards of offense a game, with the majority(320) coming through the air. TCU on the other hand gets most of their yardage by grinding it out on the ground with a solid run game, and a couple of quarterbacks that are mobile, and tend to hurt teams when out in space. TCU held a very good Oklahoma offense to only 25 yards rushing, but lost the game. How could this happen? Easily! Oklahoma abandoned the run when they realized they could move the ball through the air, amassing over 400 passing yards. So how will BYU be able to move the ball if they are not able to establish a run game? They will PASS THE BALL! Max Hall has thrown for 20 touchdowns to just 4 interceptions on the season, and is one of the best pure passers TCU will face this season. Both teams have a +9 turnover margin, and tend to take care of the ball. The team that turns the ball over tonight may end up losing tonight's game. Recent success with turnovers favors BYU, as TCU has turned the ball over 6 times in their last 3 games, while BYU has turned the ball over twice in their last 3 games. This should be an exciting game, but look for a solid performance from a BYU team that has won 5 of the last 6 matches between these schools.
Take the BYU Cougars +2 for 2-Units!
Thanks and Good Luck
Slade
